Jourdan Urbach is a seasoned startup executive and corporate innovation consultant. Most recently Jourdan was at McKinsey & Co., where he helped build their internal venture capital group in addition to serving clients.
In late 2012, Jourdan started Mass Lab with Jonathan Swerdlin to fundamentally change the way video was being handled on mobile. As co-founder & CTO, Jourdan grew the product team and raised over $3M in funding from Mark Cuban, Social Starts, and other notable investors. Prior to founding Mass Lab, Jourdan built and led a 14-person skunkworks team as Director of R&D at Mimedia, and co-authored 4 US utility patents there.
At McKinsey, Jourdan first got involved with the Firm's innovation pipeline, helping to shape and run the New Ventures Competition. During that time, he also served as Product Manager or interim CTO for a portfolio of over 20 internal startups, called McKinsey Solutions. He then shifted his focus to building products and consulting service lines that serve the retail sector, specifically store operations.
Jourdan is honored to chair the New York board of the World Economic Forum Global Shapers, and is a contributor to Inc Magazine on the topics of entrepreneurship and tech leadership. Jourdan resides in Brooklyn and spends his free time flying planes, playing chamber music, and training Muay Thai.
